Jillian and Ursula clean up at the show!

Jillian's Big Trophy Jillian and Ursula had their best ride of the year at a local 4H show and won the most humongous trophy I have ever seen. It is over three feet tall. Boy, those 4H’ers sure know how to make a person feel special! They had the highest score at Training Level at the show. The next stop for the horse and rider is state. Good Luck!

Angel is sold!

Angel is sold. It looks like we found a great match of horse, rider, and trainer. Angel had just reached the point where she understood that riding is fun. For a little bit of work guarantees her lots of affection, treats, and grooming. Once a young horse figures what they get out of the relationship, they are so much easier to get working properly. Happy trails to all of them!

Concerto in Training with Andi

Concerto in Training with AndiHere is a picture of Concerto being worked at the trot by Andi. Our plan was for Jillian to show him in the four year old class but her horse stepped on her foot and tore off her toenail.

Paxton Farm Spring Classic I & II

We are getting ready to show both Concerto and Ursula at the Paxton Farm Spring Classic. Concerto has progressing nicely and will show in the Four Year Old class. Ursula and Jillian did a great job last year in Ursula’s first show and should do even better with this year.

2006 USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage National Championships

Apollo was scratched due to some tenderness in his hocks but horses bred in the USA did quite well. BW Callista and Brigadier finished at the 2006 USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage National Championships as Champions! We are particularly excited about the four year old champion since we have a young hourse in our barn, Concerto, out of the same stallion.

BW Callista, the four year old Oldenburg N.A, mare by Contucci out of Ariane (by A Jungle Prince) was bred by Linda Santomenna of Blue Waters Farm in Chesapeake City, MD. She performed her winning test under rider Tami Glover. Judge Axel Steiner’s commented that Tami’s ride “spoke for itself as an example for what he and co-judge Jayne Ayers were looking for in the performance of a four year old horse”. Both judges rewarded BW Callista and her rider with an overall score of 9.0, consisting of a 9.5 for walk and trot, an 8 for the canter, a 9 for submission and a 9.5 for general impression.

Apollo and Andi are invited to the 2006 USEF/Markel National Young Horse Dressage Championships!

It is official. Apollo and Andi are in. In the last couple of weeks Andi had resigned herself to the possibility that their scores were just not good enough. We both were amazed that 46 horse and riders accross the U.S. that had applied for the Four Year Old Dressage championship. Over 120 horse and riders applied in the three divisions! We knew that all of the horse and riders are good and only the top twenty were going to get invited. So wish us luck! If you are in the area and curious about these up and comers in dressage, the 2006 USEF/Markel Young Horse Dressage National Championships will be held at the MSEDA Dressage at the Park show, Lexington, Kentucky, September 8 – 10, 2006.

Jillian wins with Ursula and Magic

Jillian on Ursula, June 2006

We were pleasantly surprised last month when Jillian teamed up with Magic and Ursula at a show at the University of Findlay. Jillian is a fine rider but Magic has not been in a show for several years and Ursula has never been in a show. We really did not know what to expect. Things could have gone badly but they did not.
